Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and responsible individual to join our Public Safety team as a Traffic Warden / Control Officer. This role offers the opportunity for independent work while contributing significantly to the safety and flow of traffic within Concord. You will be responsible for enforcing parking regulations, managing traffic flow during special events, and assisting the public with parking-related inquiries. This is a vital position for maintaining order and accessibility in our bustling city center and residential areas. Key Responsibilities
- Enforce parking regulations by issuing citations for violations such as expired meters, illegal parking zones, and time-restricted areas.
- Patrol designated areas on foot or by vehicle, observing and reporting parking and traffic infractions.
- Provide clear and accurate information to the public regarding parking rules and city ordinances.
- Manage traffic flow and parking during special events, parades, or emergencies, directing vehicles and pedestrians as necessary.
- Inspect parking meters and signs, reporting any damage or malfunction to appropriate departments.
- Maintain accurate records of citations issued, incidents observed, and daily activities.
- Operate and maintain assigned equipment and vehicles responsibly.
- Work independently while adhering to established policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to read and interpret city ordinances and traffic regulations.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with the public.
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a public safety, security, or customer service role.
- Knowledge of Concord city streets and parking regulations.
- Ability to de-escalate difficult situations calmly and professionally.
