Job Description
Commonwealth University is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Federal Financial Aid Processor to join our Education Department. This crucial role involves processing federal financial aid applications, ensuring compliance with all federal and institutional regulations, and providing exceptional support to our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial aid principles, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Process federal financial aid applications, including Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, and other Title IV programs.
- Verify student eligibility and resolve discrepancies in financial aid applications.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student financial aid records.
- Interpret and apply federal regulations and institutional policies related to financial aid.
- Communicate effectively with students and families regarding their financial aid status and options.
- Collaborate with other university departments to ensure a seamless student experience.
- Assist with financial aid audits and reporting requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in federal financial aid regulations and best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of federal financial aid programs (Title IV).
- Proficiency in financial aid management software (e.g., Banner, Colleague).
- Excellent data entry and accuracy skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience working in a higher education financial aid office.
- Knowledge of Virginia state financial aid programs.
- Experience with CRM systems for student communication.
