Job Description
FedEx Ground in Elgin, IL is seeking a motivated and reliable Delivery Van Loading Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring that delivery vans are efficiently and accurately loaded, playing a key part in the daily success of our delivery operations. This is an entry-level position where no prior experience is required; we provide comprehensive training to help you excel. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently sort, scan, and load packages into delivery vans according to specified routes and safety guidelines.
- Verify package counts and ensure all items for a given route are present before van departure.
- Assist drivers with package handling and route preparation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area within the loading dock and staging zones.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and operational procedures to prevent injuries and damage.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and other team members to resolve loading discrepancies or issues.
- Operate hand trucks, dollies, and other loading equipment safely and proficiently (training provided).
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally (with assistance).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Basic communication skills to interact with team members.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment (not required, but a plus).
- Familiarity with scanning technology and inventory systems.
