Job Description
Join Crowley Maritime Corporation as a Ferry Baggage Handler and play a crucial role in our waterside terminal operations in San Jose, CA. Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload passenger baggage, parcels, and cargo onto and off ferries, carts, and storage areas.
- Operate basic material handling equipment, such as hand trucks and dollies, as needed (training provided).
- Sort and stage baggage and cargo according to destination or classification.
- Assist passengers with inquiries and provide direction as needed, maintaining a friendly and helpful demeanor.
- Inspect baggage and cargo for damage and report any issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company regulations to ensure a secure working environment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of terminal work areas.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other terminal staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Perform other waterside terminal labor duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) frequently.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic communication skills to interact with colleagues and passengers.
- Commitment to safety procedures.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physical labor role, warehousing, or customer service.
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions and labels.
- Valid driver's license.
