Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and driven Photojournalism Intern to join our dynamic editorial team. This is an unparalleled opportunity for an aspiring visual journalist to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced news environment. You will work alongside experienced photojournalists and editors, learning the ropes of capturing compelling images that tell impactful stories. No prior extensive professional experience is required; we are looking for enthusiasm, a keen eye, and a strong desire to learn and contribute.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist staff photojournalists on assignments, including news events, features, and sports
- Capture high-quality photographs for various editorial platforms (print, online, social media)
- Learn and practice photo editing techniques using industry-standard software
- Contribute ideas for visual stories and collaborate with reporters and editors
- Maintain and organize photo equipment and archives
- Adhere to ethical photojournalism standards and deadlines
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of photography principles (composition, lighting, exposure)
- Strong interest in news, current events, and visual storytelling
- Proficiency with digital cameras (DSLR or mirrorless)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Journalism, Photography, Visual Arts, or a related field
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or other photo editing software
- Previous experience with student newspaper, yearbook, or personal photography projects
