Job Description
CMA CGM is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Ship Master / Captain to command our commercial vessels. This is a critical leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the vessel, its crew, and cargo across international waters. The ideal candidate will possess extensive seafaring experience, strong leadership capabilities, and an unwavering commitment to maritime safety and regulatory compliance. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified international candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe navigation and operation of the vessel in compliance with all international and national regulations.
- Lead, manage, and train the ship's crew, fostering a culture of safety, discipline, and teamwork.
- Oversee all cargo operations, including loading, stowage, and discharge, ensuring efficiency and cargo integrity.
- Manage vessel maintenance schedules and ensure all equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Act as the company's representative on board, managing all administrative and logistical aspects of the voyage.
- Implement and enforce company policies, security protocols, and environmental protection measures.
- Conduct regular safety drills and inspections.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, records, and reports.
- Liaise with port authorities, pilots, and other stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Unlimited Master Mariner License (STCW A-II/2)
- Proven experience as a Ship Master or Chief Officer on commercial vessels.
- Thorough knowledge of international maritime laws and regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISM Code).
- Exceptional leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in navigation systems, radar, ECDIS, and GMDSS.
- Strong understanding of vessel stability, cargo handling, and emergency procedures.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
- Valid medical fitness certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with container vessels or specific vessel types relevant to CMA CGM's fleet.
- Additional maritime certifications (e.g., DP endorsement, Ice Navigation).
- Bachelor's degree in Nautical Science or a related field.
- Familiarity with various port operations globally.
