Job Description

Mount Allison University is seeking a diligent and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Public Sector Shipping & Receiving Clerk. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth flow of goods, materials, and equipment across our campus, supporting various departments and contributing to the efficient operation of the university.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against packing lists, and inspect for damage or discrepancies.
  • Accurately record all incoming and outgoing packages and materials using designated systems.
  • Prepare items for shipment, including proper packing, labeling, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external carriers for timely pickup and delivery.
  • Organize and maintain the shipping and receiving area, ensuring cleanliness and accessibility.
  • Assist with inventory counts and maintain organized storage of goods.
  • Operate basic material handling equipment safely, such as hand trucks and pallet jacks (training provided).
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and university policies.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and delivery personnel.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer literacy (e.g., email, data entry).
  • Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs with assistance as needed.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a general labor or customer service role.
  • Familiarity with inventory management principles.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
