Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified inspectors with routine inspections of food establishments, public pools, and other regulated facilities under supervision.
- Learn to investigate public health nuisances, housing complaints, and environmental hazards in accordance with local regulations.
- Participate in structured training programs and workshops to gain in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental health laws and regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records of inspections and investigations, ensuring compliance and transparency.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with the public regarding environmental health concerns, regulations, and best practices.
- Support senior inspectors in responding to public health emergencies or outbreaks, following established protocols.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Arizona Driver's License upon hire.
- Strong commitment to public service and community well-being.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn and apply complex regulations and procedures.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college coursework in public health, environmental science, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience working with the public in any capacity, demonstrating customer service skills.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Demonstrated interest in environmental protection and public safety.
