Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Trainee Port Security Officers at a government facility in Weyburn. This entry-level position is perfect for those looking to start a rewarding career in federal law enforcement and border security, with no prior experience required. You will undergo comprehensive training to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to perform security duties at our port of entry, safeguarding national security and ensuring the efficient flow of trade and travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all required training programs, demonstrating a commitment to learning and professional development.
- Learn to conduct preliminary screening of individuals and vehicles entering and exiting the facility.
- Assist in monitoring surveillance systems and conducting patrols to identify and report suspicious activities.
- Understand and apply relevant security protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Learn to respond to security incidents and emergency situations under supervision.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other law enforcement agencies.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and ethical standards.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada security clearance.
- Valid Canadian driver's license.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including prolonged standing, walking, and potential lifting.
- No prior experience in security is required; full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Fluency in French (an asset).
- Experience in customer service or public interaction roles.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
