Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Sustainability / ESG Director to lead our environmental, social, and governance initiatives. This critical role involves shaping and implementing APS’s comprehensive sustainability strategy, ensuring compliance with global standards, and driving measurable impact across our operations and the communities we serve. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of ESG frameworks, exceptional leadership skills, and a profound passion for fostering a more sustainable future. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, refine, and execute a comprehensive ESG strategy aligned with corporate goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and rigorous reporting of ESG data, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and adherence to relevant standards for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and present annual sustainability reports, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) disclosures, and other essential ESG communications.
- Proactively engage with key stakeholders, including investors, regulatory bodies, customers, employees, and community groups, on all pertinent ESG matters.
- Identify, assess, and strategically mitigate ESG-related risks while capitalizing on opportunities across all business operations and supply chains.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of sustainability professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and ethical practice.
- Continuously monitor and interpret evolving ESG regulations, standards, and global trends, adapting company strategy and policies accordingly.
- Drive impactful initiatives to enhance environmental performance, promote social equity, and strengthen corporate governance practices throughout the organization.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in developing and implementing ESG strategies and reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, social impact assessment methodologies, and corporate governance principles.
- Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets, distill key insights, and present findings clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Proven project management and organizational abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with ESG software platforms, data management tools, and relevant analytical applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Business Administration, Sustainability, Finance, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or MBA with a specialization in Sustainability, Environmental Management, or ESG.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., FSA Credential, LEED AP, PMP, Certified Sustainability Professional).
- Extensive experience within the energy, utilities, or renewable energy sector.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully driving significant and measurable sustainability improvements in a large, complex organization.
