Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Modern Foreign Languages Teacher to join our dynamic MFL department at Watford Northwood Academy. The successful candidate will be passionate about languages, capable of inspiring students across key stages, and committed to contributing to the academic success and personal growth of our diverse student body. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the linguistic journey of young learners in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective MFL lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (French and/or Spanish)
- Assess, monitor, record, and report on the learning and progress of students, providing constructive feedback
- Contribute to the development of the MFL curriculum and departmental resources
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and a love for languages
- Act as a form tutor, providing pastoral care and support to a group of students
- Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development activities
- Promote international understanding and cultural awareness within the school community
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Degree in a Modern Foreign Language or related field
- Proficiency in French and/or Spanish to a high standard
- Excellent classroom management and pedagogical skills
- Ability to differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and EAL
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching an additional modern foreign language (e.g., German)
- Experience delivering GCSE French and/or Spanish curricula
- Evidence of continuing professional development in MFL teaching methodologies
- Ability to contribute to extra-curricular activities related to MFL
