Job Description
Join Cleanaway as a Recycling Sorter at our modern Belconnen facility. This role offers stable, long-term full-time employment and an opportunity to contribute significantly to environmental sustainability. You will be responsible for sorting and processing various recyclable materials, ensuring they are prepared for reuse and reprocessing. Full training is provided, making this an ideal entry-level position for individuals eager to start a career in the waste management sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually sort various recyclable materials (e.g., plastics, paper, cardboard, glass) from conveyor belts or sorting lines.
- Identify and remove non-recyclable items or contaminants from the material stream.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring compliance with all housekeeping standards.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding material flow and potential issues.
- Assist with general site clean-up tasks as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong attention to detail to correctly identify and sort materials.
- Physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to stand for extended periods, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks (up to 20kg).
- A reliable and punctual individual with a strong work ethic.
- A commitment to workplace safety and following established protocols.
- No prior experience is necessary – full training will be provided to all successful candidates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment.
- An understanding of basic waste management and recycling principles.
