Job Description

Are you passionate about the environment and eager to start a career in forestry and timber management? The Woodland Trust is offering an exciting internship opportunity based in a beautiful rural setting near Lichfield. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with little to no prior experience, providing comprehensive training and hands-on exposure to sustainable woodland management practices. You will gain invaluable experience working alongside experienced foresters, learning about everything from tree planting and maintenance to timber harvesting and conservation. This internship is designed to equip you with foundational knowledge and practical skills crucial for a successful career in the sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with tree planting, pruning, and general woodland maintenance activities.
  • Participate in timber inventory and data collection processes.
  • Learn about and support sustainable forestry operations, including felling and extraction.
  • Help monitor tree health and identify potential pest or disease issues.
  • Assist with trail maintenance and site upkeep for public access areas.
  • Document observations and assist with basic reporting on woodland conditions.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines while working in the field.
