Job Description
Join AECOM for an exciting Summer Internship focused on Environmental Science Projects! This is an exceptional opportunity for current university students passionate about environmental sustainability and seeking hands-on experience in a leading global consulting firm. As an intern, you will contribute to various projects across the Gold Coast region, supporting our team of environmental scientists and engineers. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals eager to learn, contribute, and develop their skills in a dynamic professional environment. Full training and mentorship will be provided, making this an ideal role for those with no prior professional experience in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist project teams with data collection, analysis, and interpretation for environmental assessments.
- Conduct literature reviews and research on environmental regulations and best practices.
- Prepare sections of reports, presentations, and technical documents under supervision.
- Support field investigations, including sampling, monitoring, and site inspections (as required and supervised).
- Utilize GIS and other software tools for mapping and data management.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning discussions.
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
- Adhere to AECOM's safety protocols and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Earth Science, Ecology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated strong academic performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of coursework in GIS, ecology, hydrology, or environmental policy.
- Familiarity with data analysis techniques.
- Basic understanding of Australian environmental legislation.
- Previous volunteer experience in environmental conservation or research.
