Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Front of House Assistant to join our friendly team at The Daily Grind Cafe & Bistro in Wodonga. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality, as full and comprehensive training will be provided. No prior experience is necessary – we’re looking for a positive attitude and a willingness to learn! You will be an integral part of our team, helping to create memorable experiences for our guests from the moment they walk through our doors.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greeting and seating guests upon arrival
- Taking food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently
- Serving meals and drinks with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Clearing tables and resetting them for new customers promptly
- Assisting with cash handling and operating the Point of Sale (POS) system
- Maintaining a clean and tidy dining area, counter, and service stations
- Ensuring all cutlery, crockery, and glassware are clean and stocked
- Supporting kitchen staff and other front of house team members as needed
- Learning and adhering to all food safety and hygiene standards
- Providing excellent customer service and addressing guest inquiries or concerns
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Reliability and punctuality are essential
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift light trays/items
- No prior experience in hospitality required – full training provided
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices (e.g., Food Handler certificate)
- Previous experience in a customer service role (retail, volunteering, etc.)
- Familiarity with coffee preparation or a desire to learn barista skills
