Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in the skilled trades? Midlands HVAC Services is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated HVAC Installation Assistant to join our growing team in Derby. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience in HVAC who are eager to learn a valuable trade from the ground up. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians, gaining practical knowledge in the installation, maintenance, and repair of various HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior HVAC technicians with the installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential and commercial settings.
- Learn and apply best practices for safe tool handling, equipment operation, and site procedures.
- Prepare work sites by setting up equipment, gathering materials, and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Help with the movement and positioning of HVAC units, ductwork, and other components.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of job sites, company vehicles, and tools.
- Perform basic tasks such as cutting, drilling, fastening, and sealing under direct supervision.
- Attend regular training sessions and actively participate in skill development initiatives.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients in a professional manner.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to contribute.
- Basic understanding of hand tools is a plus, but not essential.
- No prior HVAC experience required – full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid UK driving license with a clean record.
- Basic knowledge of construction or mechanical principles.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) or willingness to obtain one.
- Previous experience in a hands-on or trade-related role (e.g., general labourer, apprentice).
