Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Fund Accountant to join our dynamic team in Newcastle upon Tyne. In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely accounting and reporting for a portfolio of investment funds. This position requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of fund accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of our fund data and supporting our commitment to client service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review daily, weekly, or monthly Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations for assigned funds.
  • Perform cash, position, and general ledger reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Process and verify various financial transactions, including trades, corporate actions, and income accruals.
  • Prepare financial statements, shareholder reports, and other regulatory filings as required.
  • Liaise with auditors, custodians, investment managers, and other internal/external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate fund records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fund accounting or a related financial services role.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/UK GAAP preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Part-qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or working towards a relevant professional accounting qualification.
  • Experience with fund accounting software (e.g., Multifonds, SimCorp Dimension).
  • Knowledge of various financial instruments (equities, bonds, derivatives).
