Job Description
Join Aquatera Utilities as a Public Utilities Meter Reader and play a crucial role in delivering essential services to our community. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working independently outdoors, are detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy. As a Meter Reader, you will be responsible for accurately reading water and gas meters across various residential and commercial properties within the Grande Prairie area. You will navigate diverse weather conditions and terrain, ensuring precise data collection while representing Aquatera Utilities professionally. Full training will be provided to ensure your success in this important role.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately read and record utility meter data (water, gas) using handheld electronic devices.
- Navigate designated routes efficiently and safely, following established schedules.
- Identify and report unusual meter conditions, potential leaks, or tampering.
- Communicate courteously and professionally with customers when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and report daily progress.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Operate and maintain a company vehicle safely.
- Walk extensive distances daily in various outdoor conditions.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good physical stamina and ability to walk for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort using handheld electronic devices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Reliable and punctual work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a role requiring outdoor work or independent travel.
- Familiarity with the Grande Prairie geographical area.
