Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Cemetery Maintenance Hand. This is an ongoing, full-time position responsible for the meticulous upkeep of our cemetery grounds. The role requires a respectful approach to all duties, ensuring the cemetery remains a serene and well-maintained space for visitors. You will be an integral part of a team that takes pride in their work, performing a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall presentation and functionality of the grounds. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for meaningful outdoor work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning.
  • Maintain grave sites and memorial areas with utmost respect and care.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools and power equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist with preparation for burials, including digging and backfilling graves (using machinery where applicable).
  • Undertake minor repairs to infrastructure, such as fences, pathways, and irrigation systems.
  • Ensure cleanliness of amenities, pathways, and common areas.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and WHS guidelines at all times.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Possession of a current C-class driver's license.
  • Respectful and compassionate demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a similar outdoor role.
  • Experience operating small plant machinery (e.g., ride-on mowers, whipper snippers).
  • Knowledge of basic horticulture or gardening practices.
  • First Aid certification.
