Job Description
Are you passionate about cars and eager to kickstart a career in automotive electrics? Halfords Autocentres is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Trainee Auto Electrician to join our Cambridge team. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals with no prior experience to gain comprehensive, hands-on training and develop into a skilled professional. You will work alongside experienced technicians, learning the ins and outs of vehicle electrical systems, diagnostics, and repair. We provide all the necessary training, tools, and support to help you achieve industry-recognised qualifications and grow within our company.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified auto electricians with diagnostic tasks and repairs on various vehicle electrical systems.
- Learn to identify and troubleshoot electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Support the installation and repair of vehicle accessories and components.
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Actively participate in training programs and continuous professional development.
- Perform basic vehicle inspections and checks under supervision.
- Document work performed accurately and efficiently.
Required Skills
- A strong desire to learn and a genuine interest in automotive technology.
- Basic understanding of mechanics or electronics (e.g., from hobbies or school projects) is a plus, but not essential.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- A full UK driving license (or provisional with a strong commitment to pass).
- Punctual and reliable.
Preferred Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Basic IT literacy.
- Prior experience with hand tools or in a practical environment.
