Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Bespoke Tailor / Alterations Assistant to join our team in Redditch. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with foundational sewing skills and a passion for craftsmanship to contribute to the perfect fit of our high-quality garments. You will support our experienced tailors in providing exceptional alterations services, ensuring every customer leaves with a garment that fits flawlessly. This role requires attention to detail, a steady hand, and a commitment to learning and developing within a prestigious retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform basic alterations such as hems, seams, and minor garment adjustments under supervision.
- Assist senior tailors with bespoke fittings and complex alteration projects.
- Operate industrial sewing machines, overlockers, and other tailoring equipment safely and efficiently.
- Measure and mark garments accurately according to customer specifications and tailor instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organised alterations workspace.
- Manage alteration tickets and ensure timely completion of customer orders.
- Provide excellent customer service during fittings, ensuring satisfaction with alterations.
- Order and maintain stock of sewing supplies, threads, and alteration materials.
Required Skills
- Proven foundational sewing skills, including hand stitching and machine operation.
- Basic understanding of garment construction and fabrics.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work meticulously and efficiently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail alterations environment or bespoke tailoring workshop.
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in fashion, textiles, or tailoring.
- Experience with customer fittings and consultations.
- Knowledge of different alteration techniques for various garment types (suits, dresses, etc.).
