Job Description
We are looking for an energetic and reliable Carpet Tear-Out Laborer to join our growing team. This is an entry-level, full-time position vital to our home renovation and restoration projects. As a Carpet Tear-Out Laborer, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe removal of old carpeting, padding, and tack strips, ensuring the underlying surfaces are prepared for new installations. No prior experience is necessary, as we provide complete on-the-job training. Ideal candidates will possess a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently remove old carpeting, padding, and tack strips from various properties.
- Inspect subfloors for debris or damage post-removal and ensure the area is clean and prepared.
- Properly load and dispose of removed materials into designated waste containers or company vehicles.
- Protect surrounding walls, flooring, and furniture from dust and debris during demolition.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Assist other team members with general demolition, site cleanup, and preparation tasks as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project status and any potential issues.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in a labor-intensive role (e.g., landscaping, moving) is a plus, but not required.
