Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on City Bike Share Fleet Mechanic to join our outdoor maintenance team. This active role involves daily field work, ensuring the optimal performance and availability of our bike share fleet across Columbia. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and rebalancing bikes in various outdoor settings, playing a crucial role in our mission to provide reliable and eco-friendly transportation. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on bike share bicycles in the field.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot problems with bike components (brakes, gears, tires, smart locks, etc.).
- Rebalance bicycle inventory across various stations to meet demand and ensure availability.
- Utilize company tools and technology to track work orders, inventory, and fleet status.
- Conduct battery swaps for electric assist bikes and maintain charging infrastructure.
- Ensure all bikes meet safety standards and are clean and presentable for public use.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and management regarding fleet status and operational challenges.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with the deployment and retrieval of bikes as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic hand tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in an outdoor environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Basic knowledge of bicycle components and repair techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a bicycle mechanic or in a field service role.
- Familiarity with bike-sharing systems or urban transportation services.
- Experience using mobile applications for data entry and task management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
