Job Description

Are you a passionate and dedicated student seeking invaluable hands-on experience in paediatric healthcare? Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service is offering an exciting Clinical Placement opportunity in Paediatric Health, based at our facilities in Rockhampton, Queensland. This placement is designed for students enrolled in a relevant healthcare degree program who are eager to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world clinical setting. You will work alongside experienced paediatric healthcare professionals, gaining exposure to a wide range of conditions and patient care scenarios specific to children and adolescents. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing and medical staff with daily patient care activities, under direct supervision.
  • Observe and participate in patient assessments, treatment plans, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Document patient observations, care interventions, and progress accurately in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with paediatric patients and their families.
  • Maintain a safe and clean clinical environment.
  • Actively engage in learning opportunities, asking questions, and seeking feedback from supervisors.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and professional codes of conduct.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Nursing, Medicine, Allied Health, or a related healthcare field.
  • Demonstrated strong academic standing in relevant coursework.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of empathy, compassion, and a genuine interest in paediatric health.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and accept constructive feedback.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Successful completion of a National Police Check and Working with Children Check (Blue Card equivalent in QLD).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare or community setting, particularly with children.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Basic understanding of child development stages.
