Job Description
Kendo Brands is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Cosmetic Science & Formulation Intern to join our innovative R&D team in Santa Ana. This is a unique opportunity for an aspiring cosmetic scientist to gain hands-on experience in the exciting world of beauty product development. You will work alongside experienced chemists and formulators, contributing to the creation of next-generation skincare, makeup, and hair care products for our diverse portfolio of brands. This entry-level internship is designed to provide comprehensive training and practical exposure to all stages of the formulation process, from concept to stability testing. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior formulators in the development and optimization of new and existing cosmetic formulations.
- Prepare lab batches, conduct quality control tests, and record accurate data.
- Support stability testing, compatibility testing, and performance evaluations of various prototypes.
- Research new raw materials, industry trends, and innovative formulation techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Document experimental results and present findings to the R&D team.
- Contribute to ingredient research and vendor communications.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or a related scientific field.
- Strong interest and passion for the beauty industry and cosmetic product development.
- Basic understanding of general laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous lab experience (academic or professional) in a chemistry or biology setting.
- Familiarity with cosmetic raw materials and formulation principles.
- Understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) for cosmetics.
- Experience with laboratory equipment such as pH meters, viscometers, and centrifuges.
- Participation in cosmetic science clubs or relevant extracurricular activities.
