Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Counseling & Therapy Intern for a Supervised Practicum at our Valencia facility. This is an unparalleled opportunity for aspiring mental health professionals to gain hands-on clinical experience under the guidance of experienced supervisors. You will be an integral part of our mental health team, assisting with patient intake, co-facilitating therapy sessions, and contributing to case management in a supportive and dynamic environment. This role is designed for individuals currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field, seeking to fulfill their supervised practicum requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial client screenings and intake assessments under supervision.
  • Co-facilitate individual and group therapy sessions with licensed professionals.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records and progress notes.
  • Participate actively in weekly supervision sessions and case consultations.
  • Contribute to psychoeducational workshops and community outreach initiatives.
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards of practice.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral program in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field.
  • Basic understanding of counseling theories and techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong empathy, active listening, and observational abilities.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English (highly beneficial for client interaction in Valencia).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior volunteer experience in a mental health setting or crisis hotline.
  • Experience with basic therapeutic interventions.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
