Job Description

Cincinnati Public Schools is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as an Early Childhood Education Intern with a specific focus on Pre-Kindergarten. This is an exceptional opportunity for aspiring educators to gain hands-on experience in a vibrant and supportive classroom environment. As an intern, you will work directly with experienced teachers and support staff, contributing to the daily operations of our Pre-K classrooms and directly impacting the early development of our youngest learners. We are looking for individuals passionate about early childhood education, eager to learn, and committed to fostering a positive and stimulating learning experience for children aged 3-5. Full training and mentorship will be provided, making this an ideal role for those with limited prior experience in a classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing engaging daily activities for Pre-K students.
  • Support classroom management and help maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with children to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Help prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Observe and learn effective teaching strategies and child development best practices.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and potentially parents/guardians as guided by the lead teacher.
  • Assist with supervision during playtime, meal times, and nap times.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for working with young children (ages 3-5).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Prior volunteer or babysitting experience with young children.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with diverse student populations.
