Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Geophysicist / Seismologist to join our dynamic team in Motherwell, Scotland. You will be instrumental in the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of geophysical and seismic data. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute geophysical and seismic data acquisition programs, both in the field and through remote sensing methods.
- Process and analyze complex seismic and geophysical data using industry-standard software packages.
- Interpret geophysical and seismic data to create geological and subsurface models.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations, and project deliverables.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new geophysical techniques and methodologies.
- Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Geophysics, Seismology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience with seismic reflection/refraction, GPR, resistivity, or other geophysical methods.
- Proficiency in geophysical data processing and interpretation software (e.g., Kingdom Suite, OpendTect, Petrel, ArcGIS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake fieldwork as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Geophysics or Seismology.
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience in a consulting or survey environment.
- Experience with marine geophysical surveys.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for data analysis.
- Professional certification (e.g., CGeol) or working towards one.
