Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Okotoks, Alberta. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical investigations, including planning, supervising field work (drilling, test pitting, in-situ testing), and laboratory testing programs.
  • Perform complex geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, retaining structures, excavations, and earthworks.
  • Develop practical and cost-effective geotechnical designs and recommendations.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and specifications.
  • Provide construction-phase support, including site reviews, quality assurance, and problem-solving.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and client communications.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geological principles.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis, Slope/W).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration with APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta).
  • Experience with Canadian geotechnical design standards and practices.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Fluency in additional languages.
