Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Okotoks, Alberta. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geotechnical investigations, including planning, supervising field work (drilling, test pitting, in-situ testing), and laboratory testing programs.
- Perform complex geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, retaining structures, excavations, and earthworks.
- Develop practical and cost-effective geotechnical designs and recommendations.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and specifications.
- Provide construction-phase support, including site reviews, quality assurance, and problem-solving.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and client communications.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geological principles.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis, Slope/W).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration with APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta).
- Experience with Canadian geotechnical design standards and practices.
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Fluency in additional languages.
