Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Government Surplus Auction Assistant to join our team in Baltimore. This ‘Active Role’ involves hands-on support for our auction operations, focusing on the preparation, cataloging, and logistical coordination of government surplus items. You will be an integral part of ensuring smooth and successful auction events, working closely with our experienced auctioneers and logistics personnel. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the inventory, cataloging, and photography of government surplus items for auction.
- Organize and prepare auction lots, including cleaning, minor repairs, and staging for viewing.
- Support the logistics team in the loading, unloading, and movement of assets.
- Verify item descriptions and conditions, ensuring accuracy for online and in-person catalogs.
- Provide on-site support during auction preview days and live auction events.
- Liaise with clients and buyers, offering assistance and direction as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse and staging area.
- Perform administrative tasks such as data entry and documentation related to auction items and sales.
Required Skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or a similar hands-on role.
- Familiarity with auction processes or inventory management systems.
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
