Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and meticulous individuals to join our Environmental Services team as Hospital Cleaners. In this full-time role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across our hospital facilities. Your work directly contributes to patient safety, infection control, and creating a comfortable environment for everyone within our hospital walls. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, washrooms, common areas, and offices following established hospital protocols and infection control standards.
- Clean and sanitize hard surfaces, fixtures, furniture, windows, and medical equipment.
- Empty waste receptacles, replace liners, and manage biohazardous waste according to safety guidelines.
- Floor care including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing of various floor surfaces.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and buffers.
- Restock supplies in patient rooms and public areas.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning chemicals.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to supervisory staff.
- Provide exceptional service to patients, visitors, and staff by responding to requests politely and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), and pushing/pulling equipment for extended periods.
- Commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new cleaning techniques and hospital protocols.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous cleaning or custodial experience, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
- Familiarity with WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) and infection control practices.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
