Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Cybersecurity Threat Analyst to join our expanding security operations team. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for individuals passionate about cybersecurity who are eager to learn and grow within a leading technology company. As a Junior Threat Analyst, you will play a crucial role in monitoring our systems, identifying potential threats, and responding to security incidents. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for candidates with no prior professional experience but a strong foundational understanding of IT and a keen interest in cybersecurity. This is a 100% remote position with night shift availability, offering flexibility and the chance to work from anywhere in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and events from various security tools and systems.
- Perform initial analysis and triage of security incidents, distinguishing between true positives and false positives.
- Escalate complex security incidents to senior analysts or relevant teams as per established protocols.
- Assist in the documentation of security incidents, remediation steps, and security procedures.
- Participate in continuous learning and training to develop cybersecurity skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to the improvement of security monitoring and incident response processes.
- Work collaboratively with other security team members during night shift operations.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- A keen interest in cybersecurity and a strong desire to learn.
- Basic understanding of computer networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- High level of personal integrity and a commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to commit to night shift work hours.
- Reliable internet connection and a suitable home office environment for remote work.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree or pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Foundational IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
- Any previous exposure to security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Understanding of common cyber attack techniques and vulnerabilities.
