Job Description
Are you passionate about sports and eager to get your foot in the door of live event production? Bay View Sports Media is looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as Live Sports Camera Operator Trainees. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity to learn the ropes of broadcast camera operation for weekend sporting events. No prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive training from the ground up! You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on skills in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting broadcast cameras in a fast-paced live environment. If you’re dependable, a quick learner, and available on weekends, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in all training sessions provided by senior camera operators and production staff.
- Learn and assist with the setup and breakdown of camera equipment, cables, and other production gear at various sports venues.
- Operate broadcast cameras under direct supervision during live sporting events, following instructions from the director and lead camera operators.
- Maintain a clear understanding of shot compositions, framing, and camera movements relevant to different sports.
- Ensure all equipment is handled with care and returned in good working condition.
- Communicate effectively with the production team, including directors, producers, and other crew members.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and venue regulations.
- Be available to work primarily on weekends for scheduled matches and events.
Required Skills
- Eagerness and enthusiasm to learn about live sports broadcasting and camera operation.
- High level of reliability and punctuality, especially for weekend commitments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic live event environment.
- Physical ability to lift and move camera equipment (up to 30 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications

- Basic technical aptitude or familiarity with electronic equipment.
