Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Local Authority Senior Center Coordinator to manage the daily operations and programming of our thriving senior center in Moose Jaw. This vital role involves overseeing all aspects of center activities, staff, and facilities to ensure a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for our senior members. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community service and a strong commitment to improving the lives of older adults. This is an on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the senior center, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Develop, plan, and implement a diverse range of recreational, educational, and wellness programs tailored to the interests and needs of senior members.
- Supervise and train a team of program staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Manage the center's budget, resources, and administrative tasks, including record-keeping and reporting.
- Act as a primary point of contact for members, their families, and community partners, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and accessibility standards and regulations.
- Coordinate with local authorities, community organizations, and healthcare providers to enhance program offerings and member support.
- Promote the senior center's programs and services within the community to attract new members and volunteers.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in program coordination or management, preferably in a community or senior services setting.
- Strong leadership and team supervision abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Gerontology, Recreation Management, or a related field.
- Experience with budget management and grant applications.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of local community resources for seniors.
