Job Description
We are seeking a driven and innovative Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team in Reading. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in optimizing our manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, ensuring quality, and driving cost reduction initiatives. You will work within a highly collaborative environment, applying lean manufacturing principles and advanced engineering techniques to enhance production capabilities and support the delivery of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling to meet production goals.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Conduct root cause analysis for manufacturing issues and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to ensure seamless transition of new products from design to manufacturing.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards in all manufacturing operations.
- Evaluate and recommend new manufacturing technologies and equipment to improve productivity and capability.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience with manufacturing process development and optimization.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping).
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with production planning and control systems (e.g., ERP, MES).
- Green Belt or Black Belt Six Sigma certification.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with automation and robotic systems.
