Job Description
Costain Group PLC is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Operations Data Coordinator with a keen focus on Civil & Mining Projects to join our dynamic team in Swindon. This pivotal role involves managing, analysing, and reporting on critical operational data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for project managers and stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a key part in supporting the efficiency and effectiveness of our civil engineering and mining operations by maintaining robust data systems and providing actionable insights. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong analytical mindset and an interest in large-scale infrastructure projects to contribute to significant national developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, collate, and verify operational data from various civil and mining project sources.
- Maintain and update project databases, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports on project progress, resource allocation, and key performance indicators.
- Support project teams with data analysis and interpretation to inform decision-making.
- Implement and adhere to data governance policies and procedures.
- Assist in the development and improvement of data collection tools and processes.
- Collaborate with site teams, project managers, and other departments to ensure timely data submission and understanding.
- Identify discrepancies and anomalies in data, investigating and resolving issues proactively.
- Provide training and support to colleagues on data entry and reporting systems as needed.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, data visualization).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A basic understanding of project management principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Knowledge of civil engineering or mining industry terminology and operations.
- Previous experience in a data coordination or administrative role within a project-based environment.
