Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Nurses to join our vibrant team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for pediatric patients, adhering to NMC guidelines and Trust policies.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and effectively, monitoring patient responses and documenting observations accurately.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, therapists, and social workers, to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Provide emotional support and clear information to children and their families, involving them in care decisions.
  • Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide immediate first aid or life support as required.
  • Participate in ward meetings, handovers, and continuous professional development activities.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and promote a clean and safe clinical environment.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and student nurses as appropriate.

Required Skills

  • Current NMC registration or eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse in the UK (with a focus on Child Health Nursing).
  • A minimum of 12 months post-qualification experience in a pediatric setting (hospital or community).
  • Excellent clinical assessment, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize with children and their families.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of and commitment to patient safety and quality improvement.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, to a professional standard (e.g., IELTS/OET requirements for NMC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Child Health).
  • Experience in a specialist pediatric area (e.g., critical care, oncology, neonatology).
  • Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS) or equivalent certification.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development in pediatric nursing.
