Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Phlebotomist to join our dedicated team in Dudley. Key Responsibilities
- Perform venepuncture accurately and efficiently on diverse patient populations, including those with challenging venous access.
- Ensure patient comfort, safety, and privacy throughout the blood collection process.
- Accurately label and process blood samples according to strict laboratory protocols for various analyses.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, health and safety, and waste disposal protocols.
- Manage and organize phlebotomy supplies and equipment, ensuring stock levels are maintained and equipment is in good working order.
- Accurately document all procedures, patient information, and any adverse reactions or incidents.
- Provide compassionate and professional interaction with patients, explaining procedures clearly and addressing any concerns.
- Adhere to all regulatory standards, company policies, and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, doctors, and laboratory staff to ensure seamless patient care and sample integrity.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Phlebotomist (minimum 2 years in a clinical setting).
- Excellent venepuncture skills with high accuracy and proficiency in various techniques.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and pre-analytical variables.
- Proficiency in patient identification and sample labeling best practices.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills.
- Ability to work efficiently, independently, and as part of a team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- A compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused approach.
- Eligibility for UK visa sponsorship (if applicable) and commitment to the relocation process.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare Support, Certificate in Phlebotomy, or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Experience with different blood collection systems (e.g., butterfly needles, vacutainer, syringe) and in a variety of clinical settings.
- Knowledge of pathology IT systems and electronic patient records.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages common within the local community.
