Job Description
Swansea University is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our dynamic research team in Porthcawl, Wales. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute complex research experiments in biomedical engineering.
- Collect, process, and analyse research data using advanced statistical and computational methods.
- Prepare and present research findings at national and international conferences.
- Draft and submit high-impact publications to peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals and secure external funding.
- Supervise and mentor PhD students and research assistants.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with research ethics and safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams within the university and with external partners.
Required Skills
- A PhD (or nearing completion) in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in independent research, including experimental design and data analysis.
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with career stage.
- Proficiency in relevant laboratory techniques and scientific instrumentation (e.g., cell culture, biomaterials characterisation, microscopy).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python) or simulation tools.
- Prior experience in grant writing or securing research funding.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring junior researchers.
- Familiarity with intellectual property processes.
