Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Procurement Manager to join our team in Hanley. This role is crucial for optimizing our supply chain, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services essential for our manufacturing and distribution operations. The successful candidate will lead strategic sourcing initiatives, manage key supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement across all procurement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies aligned with business objectives, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain resilience.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, including supplier identification, selection, negotiation, contract management, and performance monitoring.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to achieve favorable terms, pricing, and service levels.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring continuity of supply and compliance with ethical and sustainability standards.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across departments such as production, finance, and logistics to understand their needs and ensure procurement meets operational requirements.
- Evaluate supplier performance, conduct regular business reviews, and foster strong, collaborative relationships.
- Stay informed about market trends, commodity prices, and new technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function, leveraging best practices and data analytics.
- Manage and mentor junior procurement staff.
Required Skills
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within a manufacturing or retail environment.
- Proven track record of successful negotiation and contract management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
- Demonstrable knowledge of supply chain principles, logistics, and inventory management.
- Full working rights in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualification or working towards it.
- Experience with international sourcing and supplier management.
- Familiarity with ethical sourcing practices and sustainability initiatives.
