Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Social Work Students for a Clinical Field Placement at our Kingscliff facility. This invaluable opportunity offers a hands-on learning experience within a dynamic community services setting. Under the direct supervision of experienced social workers, you will apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, develop essential professional skills, and contribute to meaningful community initiatives. This placement is designed to meet the requirements of your social work degree, providing comprehensive exposure to various aspects of social work practice in a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced social workers in client intake and assessment processes.
- Participate in case management, care planning, and review meetings.
- Co-facilitate group programs and workshops for community members.
- Conduct research and gather information to support client needs and service development.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation.
- Engage with clients, families, and external stakeholders with empathy and professionalism.
- Attend supervision sessions regularly to reflect on practice and enhance learning.
- Contribute to team meetings and participate in agency-wide initiatives.
- Adhere to professional ethical standards and organizational policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor or Master of Social Work program.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and apply social work theories and principles.
- High level of empathy, compassion, and cultural sensitivity.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new systems.
- Commitment to social justice and ethical practice.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful completion of foundational social work courses.
- Previous volunteer experience in a community or social service setting.
- Understanding of the local community context in Kingscliff and the Tweed Shire.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
