Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Solar Installation Supervisor to join our growing team in Wakefield. As a Solar Installation Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the on-site installation of solar PV systems, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead and mentor a team of installers, manage project timelines, and act as the primary point of contact for technical queries on site. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in solar PV, and a steadfast commitment to health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of solar installers on various project sites, ensuring adherence to project specifications and company standards.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient installation of solar PV panels, racking systems, inverters, and associated electrical components.
  • Conduct site inspections and risk assessments to ensure all work is performed in compliance with health and safety regulations, including working at height.
  • Manage on-site logistics, materials, and equipment, ensuring resources are utilized effectively.
  • Liaise with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to provide regular progress updates and resolve any on-site issues.
  • Ensure all installation work meets quality control standards and performs necessary testing and commissioning procedures.
  • Train and mentor junior installers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and completion records.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during installation and implement effective solutions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in solar PV installation, including rooftop and ground-mounted systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation pertinent to construction and electrical work (e.g., CDM regulations).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with various stakeholders.
  • Valid UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant NVQ Level 3 or higher in Electrical Installation, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
  • Working at Height certification and knowledge of scaffold erection/inspection.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Experience with various inverter brands and monitoring systems.
  • Previous experience supervising teams on construction or renewable energy projects.
