Job Description
Stantec is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with a strong background in structural design and analysis, looking to advance their career in a vibrant city. You will be responsible for the structural design, analysis, and documentation of various building and infrastructure projects, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, innovative, and sustainable engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of projects, including commercial, industrial, residential, and institutional buildings, as well as infrastructure.
- Prepare detailed structural calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings in accordance with Canadian building codes and industry standards.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, project managers, other engineering disciplines, and clients.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments during various project phases.
- Review and approve shop drawings and other contractor submittals.
- Identify and resolve complex engineering problems, applying sound engineering principles.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
- Ensure compliance with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in structural design and analysis.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or immediate eligibility for registration.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM, Revit Structures).
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian building codes (NBCC) and design standards.
- Experience with various construction materials, including steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated eligibility and willingness to undergo the LMIA and Skilled Worker Visa application process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- Experience with bridge design or complex industrial structures.
- Project management experience or certifications.
- LEED Green Associate or Professional accreditation.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and clash detection.
