Job Description
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career in a dynamic outdoor environment? Whelans Australia is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team in Broome as a Surveyor’s Chainman Assistant. This is an entry-level position perfect for someone with no prior experience in surveying, as full training will be provided on the job. You will work alongside experienced surveyors, assisting them with various tasks in the field, primarily outdoors. This role is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding, offering a unique chance to learn essential skills and contribute to critical projects across the region. Key Responsibilities
- Assisting surveyors with setting up and packing down surveying equipment (e.g., total stations, GPS units).
- Holding survey rods, prisms, and range poles steady and accurately.
- Clearing vegetation and obstacles along survey lines.
- Digging holes and driving pegs/stakes for boundary and survey markers.
- Carrying equipment and materials to various job sites.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work vehicle and equipment.
- Adhering to all safety protocols and company policies on-site.
- Learning and applying basic surveying principles and terminology.
- Performing other general labouring duties as required to support the survey team.
