Job Description
Join Canada Post as a Trainee Postal Sorting Operative and become an essential part of our night shift operations in Halifax. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately sort mail and parcels by destination and type, following established procedures.
- Load and unload postal items from vehicles, containers, and conveyor belts.
- Operate basic sorting equipment under supervision, adhering to safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the sorting facility.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe workplace.
- Collaborate effectively with team members during night shifts to meet operational targets.
- Assist in other postal duties as required to support the overall facility operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to work night shifts consistently and reliably.
- Physical fitness to lift, push, and pull mail containers and parcels (up to 50 lbs / 23 kg).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sorting tasks.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential for night shift operations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
- Basic communication skills, including the ability to read and understand instructions.
- No prior experience required; full training will be provided on-site.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Basic understanding of postal or logistics operations (a plus, but not required).
- Previous experience working in a warehouse or fast-paced operational environment (beneficial for familiarity).
