Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Trainee Tariff & Trade Classifier, focusing on government commerce. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in international trade compliance and learn the intricacies of tariff classification and trade regulations. You will receive comprehensive, hands-on training to develop expertise in classifying goods according to various tariff schedules, ensuring compliance with customs laws, and supporting our operations in the government commerce sector. No prior experience is required; we are looking for candidates with a strong desire to learn and grow within a global organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a structured training program to learn tariff classification, trade regulations, and customs compliance procedures.
- Assist senior classifiers in researching and applying appropriate tariff codes for a diverse range of products relevant to government contracts.
- Learn to interpret and apply import/export regulations, trade agreements, and government agency guidelines.
- Support the preparation and submission of accurate documentation for customs clearance.
- Maintain and update classification databases with precise information.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure trade compliance.
- Stay informed about changes in trade legislation and customs requirements through continuous learning and internal training sessions.
