Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Upcycling Furniture Restorer to join our creative team in Tewkesbury. This workshop-based role is perfect for an individual with an eye for design, a meticulous approach to detail, and a desire to contribute to sustainable practices. You will be instrumental in transforming antique and vintage furniture into contemporary masterpieces, working with various materials and techniques. Key Responsibilities
- Assess furniture pieces for restoration and upcycling potential, identifying necessary repairs and design possibilities.
- Execute various restoration techniques including cleaning, sanding, stripping, repairing structural damage, and preparing surfaces.
- Apply creative finishes such as painting, staining, waxing, varnishing, and decoupaging.
- Undertake upholstery work, including fabric removal, frame repair, foam/filling replacement, and new fabric application.
- Operate and maintain workshop tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Manage inventory of materials and supplies, reporting needs to the workshop manager.
- Collaborate with the design team on bespoke projects and custom finishes.
- Ensure high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail in all finished pieces.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Adhere to project timelines and delivery schedules.
Required Skills
- Proven experience or strong aptitude in furniture restoration, upcycling, or fine woodworking.
- Proficiency with common hand and power tools used in furniture work (e.g., sanders, drills, saws).
- Understanding of different wood types, finishes, and repair techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a creative mindset.
- Good physical stamina for lifting and moving furniture pieces.
- Commitment to health and safety regulations in a workshop setting.
Preferred Qualifications
