Job Description
Are you passionate about helping students succeed? Kaplan is seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable Virtual Homework Helpers to provide online academic support. This is a remote, part-time position designed for individuals who excel in various academic subjects and enjoy guiding students through challenging homework assignments and concepts. You will work from the comfort of your home, setting your own flexible hours, primarily during evenings and weekends, to support students across different grade levels and subjects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one virtual assistance to students with their homework questions and academic challenges.
- Explain complex concepts clearly and concisely across various subjects (e.g., Math, Science, English, History).
- Help students develop problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Offer constructive feedback and guidance to enhance student understanding.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and patient demeanor during all interactions.
- Track student progress and participation as required.
- Adhere to Kaplan's academic standards and guidelines for online support.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong academic proficiency in at least two core subjects (e.g., Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, US History).
- Ability to explain difficult concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students learn.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace conducive to online tutoring.
- Proficiency with online communication and collaboration tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or possessing a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a relevant field.
- Previous experience in tutoring, mentoring, or teaching (formal or informal).
- Familiarity with various educational technologies and learning platforms.
