Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Virtual Legal Aide to join our Public Defender’s Office. This is a 100% remote position that will provide essential administrative and legal support to our team of public defenders. The ideal candidate will be passionate about public service, possess excellent organizational skills, and be eager to contribute to providing crucial legal assistance to our clients. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the legal field within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain electronic case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Draft and prepare various legal documents, including memos, motions, and discovery requests, under attorney supervision.
- Conduct basic legal research using online databases and other resources.
- Assist attorneys with calendar management, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and other stakeholders via phone and email.
- Support trial preparation by organizing exhibits and relevant documentation.
- Manage incoming correspondence and inquiries, directing them to the appropriate parties.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records within our case management systems.
- Assist with general administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the virtual office.
Required Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a strong ability to prioritize tasks.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work.

- Associate's degree or higher in Paralegal Studies, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
