Job Description
Join Biffa, a leading name in sustainable waste management, as a Waste Truck Helper based in Crawley. We are seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team, assisting with vital council waste collection services. This ongoing, full-time position offers a stable role within a supportive environment, perfect for those looking for an active job with opportunities to contribute to community cleanliness. No prior experience is necessary, as full training will be provided to all successful candidates. As a Waste Truck Helper, you will play a crucial role in the efficient collection of waste and recycling from residential and commercial properties throughout Crawley and the surrounding West Sussex area. You will work as part of a close-knit team, ensuring routes are completed safely and on schedule, contributing directly to the environmental well-being of the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the truck driver with navigating collection routes safely.
- Loading various types of waste and recycling into the collection vehicle.
- Operating equipment on the waste truck in a safe and efficient manner (with training).
- Ensuring all waste is collected according to scheduled routes and safety protocols.
- Performing manual handling tasks including lifting and carrying bins and bags.
- Working effectively as part of a team to complete daily collection targets.
- Adhering strictly to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and members of the public.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment around the vehicle.

- Physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding manual tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
